Project Background

Coastal terrain survey data of Thailand show that the geologic characteristics are rocky beaches, sandy beaches and mud beaches. There are areas with coastal erosion problems of approximately 830 kilometers. The major cause of coastal erosion is the destruction of the mangrove area along the coast is a natural defensive line causing damage to property and land of people living in coastal areas. Department of Marine and Coastal Resources has therefore developed a project to prevent coastal erosion. By bamboo embroidery method, slow down the intensity of waves in Trat, Chanthaburi, Phetchaburi and Pattani provinces.

Objective

  1. To prevent coastal erosion in the mud beach area by means of bamboo embroidery slowing the intensity of the waves in Bangkaew Subdistrict Ban Laem District Phetchaburi Province
  2. To reduce the loss of coastal land and increase the area behind the bamboo line
  3. To allow people and communities in areas involved in marine and coastal resource management
